Boom Lift Rental Cost in Pennsylvania: Daily, Weekly and Monthly Rates Explained

You call two suppliers for the same boom lift. One quotes $250 a day. The other quotes $600. Height, power type, rental length, and a handful of fees explain that gap, not luck or negotiation skill. Boom lifts in Pennsylvania run $80 to $1,000 plus per day. Most standard jobs land between $225 and $600 a day. Weekly rentals run $550 to $3,000 plus, with most jobs falling between $800 and $2,000. Monthly rentals run $1,300 to $7,000 plus, typically $2,200 to $4,600. Below, we break down what pushes your job toward the low end or the high end of that range.

Pricing disclaimer: These figures reflect Equipment Services LLC, current for 2026. Actual prices will vary depending on machine availability, distance of delivery, season, and individual rental companies. Be sure to double check a final number before booking.

Average Boom Lift Rental Rates in Pennsylvania

BoomLift Rental Cost in Pennsylvania at a Glance

The $80 end of this table is for a small 16 foot electric lift, the kind you would use for lift rental for light fixture work in a warehouse. The $1,000 plus end is an 80 foot diesel telescopic unit on a commercial job. Most people renting for a normal construction or maintenance job land somewhere in the middle.

Boom Lift Rental Rates by Type

Not all boom lifts do the same job, and the price tag follows the design.

1. Articulating Boom Lift Rental Cost

An articulating lift bends at more than one point, allowing it to reach up and over obstacles such as a fence, rooftop unit, or scaffolding in the way. This makes a rental unit boom lift a practical choice for accessing elevated work areas that are difficult to reach with straight-boom equipment.

  • A 30 foot articulating lift in Pennsylvania will begin at about $550 per week or $225 per day.
  • Go up to 60 feet and you're looking at closer to $325 a day, $825 a week. Monthly rentals for articulating booms usually fall between $2,200 and $4,000.
You’re paying for the extra joints here. That flexibility to reach around obstacles costs more than a straight arm of the same height.

2. Telescopic Boom Lift Rental Cost

Sometimes referred to as straight booms, telescopic lifts extend up one way and provide the greatest possible reach in a single direction.

  • Daily rates run $275 to $600 in most Pennsylvania; weekly rates $1,100 to $2,000.
  • Beyond 60 feet, rentals may install more than $4,000 a month.
If your job is steel erection, bridge maintenance, or anything that needs distance more than flexibility, this is usually the machine you end up with.

3. Towable Boom Lift Rental Cost

The towing effort is low and rental cost is simple, and no trailer needed; a towable boom attaches easily to a truck.
  • The average price of towing in Harrisburg was $346 per day, $960 per week, and $2,342 per month. This is much less than the cost of a similar sized self propelled unit.
They’re a fine fit for landscaping, sign installs, and light commercial maintenance. Not something you’d want on rough terrain or a heavy industrial site.

Electric vs Diesel Boom Lift Rental Cost

Electric lifts are cheaper to rent and operate but can have height and ground clearance restrictions. Diesel units are more expensive to operate but can last longer on a job, can operate on rough terrain, and can operate without needing a recharge.

Boom Lift Rental Rates by Height

Height drives cost more than anything else on this list. Every extra 10 feet means more hydraulics, more counterweight, and more engineering to keep the thing stable, and the price goes up with it.

30 to 45 Foot Boom Lifts

The most rented class in the state. $225 to $450 a day, $550 to $1,050 a week, $1,650 to $2,600 a month. There are lots of these that are electric and rated for indoor use, hence their prevalence in warehouse and retail positions.

45 to 60 Foot Boom Lifts

Daily rates climb to $325 to $600 here, weekly to $825 to $1,450, monthly to $2,650 to $3,700. Most machines in this range switch to diesel or dual fuel. Electric motors start to struggle once you add this much height and weight.

60 to 80 Foot Boom Lifts

$400 to $950 a day. $1,000 to $2,500 a week. $2,900 to $5,900 a month. This is where mid rise construction, exterior building work, and utility jobs tend to live.

80 Foot and Above

Now you’re renting specialty equipment. Daily rates commonly run $700 to $2,000 or more, weekly $2,100 to $5,000, monthly $5,400 and up, sometimes well up. Push past 150 feet into superload territory, and daily rates can clear $2,000 on their own. These units also come with transport rules you’ll want to know about, which we’ll get to.

Does the Boom Lift Brand Affect Rental Cost?

You’ll find three brands, Genie, JLG and Skyjack, most frequently at Pennsylvania rental yards, and the prices are generally comparable for a specific height and a specific power type. A 45′ electric articulating lift in the Genie Z 45 range or JLG range E450AJ is approximately the same cost. It’s availability and parts support, not price, that makes brands different.

A supplier usually favors one brand, based on what they’ve invested in and know how to service, not because one brand is cheaper as a rule. EQS LLC works with Genie, JLG, and SkyTrak equipment, so ask us directly which model fits your job. Comparing three quotes within the same height class will tell you more than comparing quotes using brand names.

Which Size Is Right for Your Job?

Yes. Most of the construction equipment rental industry experiences seasonal trends, and the boom lift industry is no exception.

Spring and summer (roughly April through September) the peak seasons, Construction activity starts to ramp up outdoors, lift demand increases and rates typically are 10 to 15 percent higher than base. Book early if your project falls in this window, since availability tightens before price does.

Fall sits in between. Demand starts easing as major exterior projects wrap up before winter.
Winter is the slow season in Pennsylvania for the outdoors. Companies that rent equipment frequently reduce rates or make more flexible arrangements to keep equipment in use, at a 15 to 25 percent discount from the rate. Indoor jobs using electric lifts aren’t affected the same way, since that demand stays steady year round.

Daily vs Weekly vs Monthly Rates: Which Saves You More

Daily rates cost the most per day, by design. That’s how rental pricing works everywhere. Weekly rates usually run three to four times the daily rate, not seven, so you’re saving roughly 60 percent per day just by booking the week. Monthly rates push that further still, often 75 to 80 percent below the day rate.

Here’s what that looks like in an actual job. Say you need a 45 foot articulating lift for five days.

  • Book it daily: $350 a day, 5 days, comes to $1,750.
  • Book it weekly: a flat $900 for the week.
You save $850, even though you’re paying for two days you won’t touch. That’s the whole logic behind weekly and monthly pricing, and it’s why most suppliers will tell you outright to book the week once your job runs in the past three days.

Estimate Your Boom Lift Rental Cost

Here’s a sample cost breakdown for a typical mid size job, so you can see how the pieces stack up.

Example: 45 foot articulating boom lift, 5 day job, Philadelphia

  • Weekly rental rate: $900
  • Delivery and pickup (round trip): $200
  • Damage waiver (12 percent of rental): $108
  • Operator certification (one person, if needed): $100
  • Estimated total: $1,308
Use the tables above to swap in your own height, city, and rental length, and then add delivery, damage waiver in the 10 to 18 percent range, and certification costs if the crew requires them. That gets you close to a real number before you ever call a supplier.

What Affects Boom Lift Rental Cost in Pennsylvania

A few factors move your quote up or down beyond the base daily rate:
  • Height and reach. The single biggest cost driver. Every additional height class adds to the rate.
  • Power type. Electricity costs less to rent and run. Diesel costs more but handles rough terrain and greater height.
  • Rental duration. Daily costs the most per day. Weekly and monthly bring the effective daily rate down significantly.
  • Delivery distance. Rates rise with distance from the supplier's yard, and specialty transport for large units costs more.
  • Season. Spring and summer carry a demand premium. Winter often runs cheaper.
  • Insurance and damage waiver. Typically, 10 to 18 percent of the rental total if you don't have your own equipment coverage.
  • Operator certification. A cost to budget if your crew isn't already trained.
  • Local permits. Some municipalities require a separate permit for sidewalk or lane closures.

Boom Lift Rental Cost by Pennsylvania City

Same lift, different city, different price. Here’s how it breaks down across the state’s major markets.

Philadelphia $275 to $550 a day, $1,100 to $2,000 a week, up to $4,000 a month. Philly’s construction market is big enough to keep supply competitive, but getting a lift downtown often means extra fees for street permits and timed delivery windows.

Pittsburgh Daily rates run $200 up to $1,000 or more depending on size. Monthly rentals span roughly $1,300 to $7,000. A 30 foot lift averages $225 a day or $550 a week. Step up to a 60 foot articulating unit and you’re closer to $325 a day, $825 a week.

Harrisburg Rentals start as low as $80 a day for a small 16 foot electric lift and go up to $600 a day or more for a 120 foot unit. Towables average $346 a day. Articulating lifts start around $225. As the state capital with a smaller construction footprint than Philly or Pittsburgh, Harrisburg tends to run a bit cheaper for comparable equipment.

Allentown Articulating lifts start around $225 a day, climbing from there based on height and power type. Allentown sits close to both Philadelphia and New Jersey, so suppliers here often cover a wider service radius, which can swing delivery costs either direction depending on where your job site sits.

Erie Rates start at $80 a day for small electric units and reach up to $600 for the biggest 120 foot lifts, similar to Harrisburg. Erie’s a smaller northwestern market with fewer local suppliers, so book ahead during peak season if you want your first choice equipment.

Hidden Fees to Watch For

The quoted daily rate is rarely what you end up paying. Watch for these:
  • Cleaning fees if the lift comes back with mud, concrete, or paint on it
  • Late return fees, often a full extra day even if you're only a couple hours late
  • Transport or mileage charges past a supplier's standard delivery zone
  • Weekend or off hours pickup fees
  • Fuel refill charges on diesel or gas units returned without a full tank
  • Minimum rental charges, since some suppliers bill two days minimum even for a single day job
Ask for a full, itemized quote before you book. If a supplier won’t break these out ahead of time, expect a surprise on the invoice.

How to Choose a Reliable Boom Lift Rental Company in Pennsylvania

The cheapest quote isn’t always the best deal. Before you book, check for these:
  • Fleet conditions and age. Older, poorly maintained lifts break down more, and downtime on a job site costs more than the rental savings did. EQS LLC inspects every unit before it leaves the yard.
  • Same day or next day delivery. Ask directly what their delivery window looks like, especially if your job has a tight start date.
  • Transparent, itemized quotes. A supplier willing to break out delivery, damage waiver, and fuel costs upfront is one that isn't planning to surprise you later.
  • Operator support. Some companies include a walkthrough or basic safety briefing at delivery. That's worth asking about even if your crew is already certified.
  • Local reviews and track record. A company with a real local presence and a history of on time delivery in your specific city is worth more than the lowest number on a quote sheet.
  • 24/7 breakdown support. Ask what happens if the lift fails on a weekend. A supplier without a real answer here is a risk.
A few extra minutes vetting the supplier usually saves more than a few extra dollars chasing the lowest daily rate.

How to Get the Best Boom Lift Rental Rate in Pennsylvania

A handful of habits make a real dent in your total cost.
  • Book early. Availability tightens up in spring and summer, and last minute bookings tend to cost more.
  • Ask about the weekly rate before defaulting to daily, especially if there's any chance the job runs past three days.
  • Size the lift to the job, not the budget. Paying a bit more per day for extra reach is usually cheaper than adding rental days because the shorter lift couldn't finish the work. See our boom lift sizing guide if you're not sure which height you need.
  • Ask if delivery gets waived or discounted on weekly and monthly bookings. It often does.
  • Know the exact off rent cutoff time. Miss it by an hour and you can get billed for a full extra day.
  • Get every fee in writing before the lift shows up on site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most 30 to 60 foot lifts run $225 to $600 a day. Small electric units can go as low as $80 a day. Large 80 foot plus diesel units can top $1,000 a day.

Yes, both beat the daily rate. Weekly rentals usually run three to four times the daily rate instead of seven, which cuts your effective daily cost by around 60 percent. Monthly goes further still, often 75 to 80 percent below the day rate.

Usually not. Delivery is billed on top and typically runs $75 to $350 each way for standard-size lifts. Aerial lift rental prices may vary depending on the equipment size and transport requirements. Larger units that need specialized transport cost more.

Lift rental costs vary by equipment type, rental period, and location. If you’re looking for the cheapest boom lift rental, compare daily, weekly, and monthly rates and request a quote based on your specific needs.

Not usually. You’ll either pay a damage waiver, typically 10 to 18 percent of the rental total, or show proof of your own equipment insurance policy.

You can rent one, but OSHA requires operator training before anyone actually uses it on a job site. Some suppliers offer certification on-site for an added fee if your crew doesn’t already have it.

A few days ahead usually works for standard sizes in the off-season. During spring and summer peak months, book one to two weeks out, longer for large or specialty units.

Most suppliers deliver Monday through Friday, but many will accommodate weekend pickup or return for an added fee. Confirm this before you book if your job runs through the weekend.

For diesel and gas units, no. You’ll either pay a fuel surcharge or return the unit with a full tank. Electric lifts don’t have this cost.

Many suppliers set a one or two-day minimum, even for jobs that only need the lift for a few hours. Ask upfront so it doesn’t catch you off guard.

Rental costs vary by lift type, height, rental duration, and location. Comparing aerial lift rental prices and cherry picker hire options can help you find the right lift for your project.

The boom lift rental cost per day varies based on the machine model, size, features, rental period, and job requirements. Daily rentals may also differ from weekly or monthly rental arrangements.
